Growing and nourishing your hair - part 1!
Let’s talk about hair care—something I’m very passionate about! We all have a special connection to our hair. Whether it’s the length, color, thickness, or shine, hair often feels like a reflection of who we are. Even though I cherish my hair, I hadn’t been doing nearly enough to show that love.
I want to share with you how I’ve worked to nourish my hair and get it to a place where it truly feels cared for & loved. Making my hair a priority in my self-care routine has truly been a game-changer.
So let’s dive in!
Part 1: Products!
Before you can start taking care of your hair, it’s important to have the right tools and resources for the journey. Here’s what I’ve personally used to see incredible improvements in my hair health.
Supplements: Nourish yourself from the inside out
Supplements can be an amazing way to support hair health, but it’s important to choose the right ones (from the right sources). From my experience (and feedback from friends), animal-based supplements are often the most effective when it comes to hair, skin, and nails. I know this might not be ideal for everyone, (sorry to my vegans and vegetarians!), but for those who aren’t limited by dietary restrictions, these have made a huge difference.
My top recommendation is the Skin, Hair, and Nails supplements by Heart & Soil. Additionally, collagen supplements—especially those sourced from happy, pasture-raised cows—can provide your body with the building blocks it needs to strengthen hair from within. Look for collagen that is 100% grass-fed or grass-fed & finished for the best quality. While I haven’t personally used this product (though I’ve used many other products from them), one collagen supplement I would recommend is the Grass Fed Beef Living Collagen by Ancestral Supplemements.

Hair Oils: My go-to for growth & softness
I’m definitely a bit biased here (I created these products, after all!), but I can honestly say that my Hair Growth Oil and Hair Softening Oil have been a game-changer in my own hair care routine.
Here’s my routine:
Hair Growth Oil: Apply this directly to your scalp. This formula is concentrated, so a little goes a long way. I personally love to leave it on as long as possible—sometimes even for days. But if you're just starting out, aim for at least 3 hours.
Hair Softening Oil: Apply this to the length of your hair to keep it smooth and hydrated. You can also use it on the scalp if you like, but I recommend focusing on the ends to prevent any potential buildup.
Bonus tip: If you can, apply some heat (whether it’s with a heat cap or by sitting in the sun - my personal favorite) while the oils are in your hair. The heat helps the oils absorb better and works wonders for softening and nourishing your hair.
Shampoos & Conditioner: Clean products = healthy hair
Let’s talk about shampoos and conditioners. If you’re using products with ingredients you can’t pronounce or that sound like they belong in a chemistry lab, it's time to rethink your hair care routine and add in cleaner products.
My top recommendations are:
Under Luna: They have a variety of shampoos and conditioners designed for different hair needs. I personally love their unscented option. These products are so clean and make my scalp feel amazing.
Zuma Nutrition: Their shampoo and conditioner are both incredibly nourishing and made with the cleanest ingredients. These have been my go-to for keeping my scalp healthy and my hair soft.

When you’re looking for a new shampoo, make sure to check the ingredient list—avoid sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, which can dry out your hair and irritate your scalp.
Hair Conditioning: Why apple cider vinegar is a game changer
Here’s a tip that might surprise you: apple cider vinegar can do wonders for your hair. It’s a natural way to balance your scalp’s pH, remove product buildup, and restore shine to your hair.
A Hair Conditioning Spray (like the one I’ve created) is a great way to incorporate the benefits of apple cider vinegar. It’s a gentle, easy-to-use way to keep your hair nourished and hydrated.
In Conclusion…
These are the products that I’ve personally used to grow and nourish my hair—and I hope they’ll work just as well for you. While this process is about finding what works best for your unique hair type, these clean, nourishing products are a great place to start!
